Beta 2.9 Pre-Release: A new HOT tower is coming...


Even more stuff coming out on 2.9...

It seems I just keep adding content to this one. The wave balance changes made me feel like I should finally get around to the fire-tower, damage-over-time idea I discussed on the very first devlog. So, I figured why not, considering most of the code was already in place for such a tower–I had a status effect system for the DOT, and already had some fire and smoke assets for the visuals. As for the looks of the cannon, let's just say it's programmer "art" for now...

The barrel shooter

The barrel shooter is a slight twist on the standard cannon's firing speed and damage, but with the damage over time. I decided to balance it by making the base damage smaller (50 std vs 45 barrel), with the damage-over-time being 15% of the base damage per second, for 7 seconds (at time of writing). This high damage means it only fires once every 10 seconds without any upgrades, so you'll need to pad your defenses with standard damage dealers until you get this one upgraded enough to start melting ships on its own.

Balance fixes (yes, there's more)

If you were one of the VIPs that played the first release-candidate of version 2.9, you might've realized that you don't unlock much throughout the game. Well, It's because I forgot to reintroduce unlocks in the new wave system, so this should be fixed on this version, along with a rebalance of unlocks, which should give you more toys earlier than the previous version.
